i saw this meme on freaky's page a while ago. (damn... i get a lot of memes from him; i almost feel like i should be indebted... then i change my mind! :-) since then i've seen it on several blogs i frequent. i meant to post this a while ago, but life got in the way. better late than never i suppose...

yep, i'm the first born child and grandchild. still reaping the benefits of that status...

no, but they did eventually marry.

Part 2: The Family
How would you describe your family?
extended. so, technically my immed. family just includes me, my sister and brother. but, i have six aunts and four uncles and my grandmother. i'm very close to one of my aunts, Brighter Day, so to me, she's part of my immed. family as well. my sister's girlfriend, Louisiana's Finest, is also like a sister to me. of course, i have a few friends from college who are like sisters to me; when i call them my Spelman sisters i mean that whole heartedly.
Are your parents married?
they were married to one another at one time. for obvious reasons my mom's not married, and well, i don't think my father is.
Siblings or an only child?
two siblings, a brother and a sister
What are your siblings names?
i never use govt. names on my blog. if i can't come up w/ a fitting name, i don't mention the person. anyway, in my blog i refer to my sister as Rainbow Not So Brite and my brother as Our Shining Prince.
Do you have step parents?
nope
Part 3: The Friends
Do you have more than one best friend?
the funny thing is now i can't say i have a best friend. i have really good friends, yes, but when i think about a best friend, no one comes to mind.
What do you like to do when you are together?
actually, the more appropriate question is: what do you like to talk about when you are together? see, my friends and i do the same basic stuff: shopping, dinner, movies, going to one another's house, etc. but, we talk about diff. things. if i'm with my friends from high school we catch up on one another's lives and then talk about the latest news re: our classmates. however, i'm glad that the latter is becoming less of a focus. sometimes we start talking about high school, and i hate that. i had a great high school experience, but really, we've all graduated from college; we need to keep it movin'. (then again, we all went to diff. colleges, so it's hard to find a common ground.) anyway, if i'm with my friends from college we talk about the latest event in our lives. since we get together more often (or talk on the phone more regularly) these events. i tend to like chillin' with this group of friends because i don't have to go back and explain everything; they already know the backstory. until recently i also found that my friends from college were more socially conscious. thankfully, that's not so much the case anymore.
Do you share the same interests?
pretty much.
Which friend can you tell anything to?
The Truth. we don't talk all that often, but he's the one person i can tell anything to and he rarely bats an eye. and, he's gives great feedback and advice. if i'm dead wrong, he'll tell me; i appreciate that.

How high/low is your self-esteem?
i'd say it's pretty high. sometimes i do doubt myself.
Do you get depressed about things easily?
not really. oftentimes what happens is i'll get in a depressed mood when a culmination of things hit me. i mean, i've known about them all along, but they all start to hit me like a ton of bricks, and i experience depressed mood and anxiety. i'm going through one of those periods right now.
Are you an extrovert or an introvert?
it depends on who i'm with. when i'm w/ my immed. family, i'm a complete extrovert. i can be my silly self with them and i love that. with other people, i'm a complete introvert. sometimes ppl think i'm stuck up or aloof. nope, never that; i'm just trying to feel the person out. a part of me feels like i'm that way on my blog and in the comments i write.
Are you happy?
at the moment, i can't say that i'm happy in every area. i still want a lot more for my life.
Do you live life to the fullest?
hmmm.... do you mean, do i do everything i want to do when i want to do it? of course not. all too often there are economic constraints that stop me.
Part 5: Appearance
Are you comfortable with the way you look?
for the most part. there are a few key areas i'd like to improve. and, i'm not sharing what they are ;)
Would you change anything about your appearance if you could?
yes, of couse.
Do you have any piercings besides your ears?
nope. and getting my ears pierced was quite an ordeal.
Describe your hair?
interesting. it's natural, but people always think that i either perm it or press it. neither is true. it's straight in some areas and curly/wavy in others. today it's a little frizzy.

Were you a strange child?
someone could say that. i love(d) to read and so i always had a book with me. i would come to choir practice at church and when the other kids were playing during breaks or talking to each other while they waited on their parents, i'd have my nose in a book.
What did you use to love that you no longer do?
i used to love to write stories.
Do you have the same friends?
i have one friend that i've known since the 3rd grade. we're not really close, but she's still my girl. her mother (who's the sweetest woman in the world) is "my other mom." i have a few friends from middle and high school, but we don't stay in contact as much. i guess that's what happens we grow up, move away, and/or get married. the funny thing is when we do connect, it's like old times (in a good way). i guess that's all that matters in the end.
Was there anything in your past that was traumatizing?
yeah, when my mom died a little over 2 years ago. traumatizing isn't even the word to describe that experience

What is your dream?
to be happy, healthy, and financially stable.
Are you scared of growing old?
nope, i actually look forward to it.
Do you want to get married?
yeah, one day. even though i like for people to think i'm cynical about love, deep down i'd really like to be married and all that jazz. however, i don't want to walk down that aisle until i'm like 30.
Part 8: The Outdoors
Do you prefer indoors or outdoors?
Indoors all the way. if i had the choice between hiking and reading a book, i'd chose the latter.
What is your favorite season?
i'm a fall baby, so i def. have to go with that season. i like how it's not too cold, but not too hot, how the leaves change (and the crunching of the leaves; when i was a little girl, my aunt, my sister and i would go crunching in the leaves at this park near my grandmother's house), i like drinking apple cider, coming home for Thanksgiving, the list could go on and on.
Favorite weather?
the beginning of fall, when it's not too cool, but also i'm not burning up.
Do you like walking in the rain?
sometimes. it's funny to watch other people scramble like rain is poison.

Are you a vegetarian?
no, but i've seriously considered it. Ms. Chicken gets me everytime. :)
What is your favorite food?
i love fish(esp. tilapia) jasmine rice and pasta, and bread.
What food makes you want to gag?
grits, okra, and liver. oh, and eggs and bananas; with the two of those, i actually like the taste, but once they hit my stomach, i get nauseous.
What is your favorite restaurant?
i don't have one.

graduating from college.
Have you ever done drugs?
no, i've never even smoked a cigarette. in that regard, i've always been pretty straight laced.
