The Firsts Meme

The Firsts Meme

1. Who was your first prom date?
The Mad Latin Rappa. lol... i just remember he used to jokingly call himself that. anyway, like i mentioned in my last post, he was this dude i was friends with and we ended up going to prom together.

2. Who was your first roommate?
The Sophomore. that name is really whack, because, well, she was a sophomore and i was a freshman. at Spelman, most freshmen stayed in all freshmen dorms, but there were a few that were mixed and i was stuck in one of them. :-( i always say i didn't have the true freshmen year experience.

3. What alcoholic beverage did you drink when you got drunk the first time?
i've never been drunk before.

4. What was your first job?
as a telemarketer. i hated it! one day my mom was taking me to work and i actually cried because i had to go to that God awful place. the next day she started helping me find another job.

5. What was your first car? a 1991 Dodge Spirit named Estelle. i sold her to my aunt when i moved to Cali, and my aunt still drives her.

6. When did you go to your first funeral?
hmmm... i think i was between 10 and 11. there was a girl i went to church with that was the same age as me who died after having surgery on her heart.

7. How old were you when you first moved away from your hometown?
17, when i went away to college

8. Who was your first grade teacher?
i don't recall having a teacher in the 1st grade. i know this sounds strange, but i went to a private school where everyone from grade 1-12, worked independently in these work books (different colors for diff. levels) in one huge room where we sat in our own little cubicle like area. when you finished the lesson, you had to go to this work station in the middle of the room and check your work. if you had any questions while working, we had these flags (an American flag and a Christian flag) that we raised and someone would come and help us. i'm sure we had to have had actual class time, but for the life of me, i can't remember those times.

9. Where did you go on your first ride on an airplane?
when i was about eight or nine, me, my sister, and our mom went to dallas/ft.worth. one of my aunts lives there, and so my mom flew down with us to make sure we would be ok, and then i think she flew back alone.

10. When you snuck out of your house for the first time, who was it with?
i never snuck out of the house.

11. Who was your first Best Friend and are you still friends with them?
i honestly can't remember this. i'll have to ask my aunt.

12. Where did you live the first time you moved out of your parents house?
Manley Hall, at Spelman College.

13. Who is the first person you call when you have a bad day?
well, until a few months ago(has it really been that long?), i'd call Mr. NRN. now, i call my aunt.

14. Who's wedding were you in the first time you were a bridesmaid or a groomsmen?
one of The Three Amigas, when she got married in summer 2004.

15. What is the first thing you do in the morning?
turn the alarm off and wait for the other two to sound.

16. What was the first concert you ever went to?
Homecoming 2000. i went to an HBCU, and you know we can't just have a regular homecoming with a football game and tailgate. no, we gotta have concerts, step shows, fashion shows, after parties, parties for after the after party. anyway, the concert had Beenie Man, Busta Rhymes, Mya, Ludacris (i think, or maybe he was at CAU that year) and someone else. it wasn't the hottest show we had, but it was my first. man, i miss homecoming concerts.

17. First tattoo or piercing?
my ears, when i was 21. (yeah, i was mad late, but my mom had keloids, and we were always scared i'd get them too if i got my ears pierced.)

18. First celebrity crush?
i don't remember

Your school sounded interesting, everyone grade 1-12 in one room working in books. I have never heard of it before. Cool.

You never snuck out the house! Girllllllllll LOL!

Your aunt would know your 1st best friend? You think she'll remember if you don't? LOL

now that i think about it, it was interesting. at the time, i thought it was the norm! when i was in middle and high school, one of my friends brought to my attention how out of the box it was.

yep, i never snuck out. i was a little goodie two shoes back then. and, for the most part, i'm still that way.

girl, my aunt remembers damn near everything about my childhood. it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if she could tell me that.

Your school seemed interesting. I don't know how I'd have done in that environment besides the fact that I would be annoyed if they forced me to do work on my grade level.

Goody two shoes. :oP I bet people are beating down your door trying to corrupt you.

Appy? I went from Blogger Baby's Daddy to Appy? LOL!

from what i recall you didn't necessarily have to work on your grade level. i've always done really well w/ reading, so i was ahead in that area, and in math, well, i was right along w/ the other 1st graders. we kinda worked at our own pace.

well, i'm already a bit "corrupted," so the work's not too hard. it's how they go about doing it that's the true test.

yep, you're my Appy! lol... actually, i'm planning to change it back... in due time.

cool meme. My aunt knows everything about my childhood too. She says, since I was her first niece she was engrossed with me.

oh, i was the 1st niece (and grandchild), so yeah, my aunt and my grandmother remember a lot about me. sometimes i'm like, are you sure you're thinking of me because i don't recall any of that!
